Hello,
I know there are lots of wonderful, brilliant, CNE types out there who
look at the messages here. That's great. Hopefully, we can use this medium to
meet and begin a future together. To lessen the likelyhood that we are
"mismatched", I would like to lay out some specifics about the person we seek.
We've all seen three page resumes and job descriptions that hardly "describe"
anything in particular. My goal here is to waste neither your time or mine by
being very specific about our needs.
We DO NOT want...the following
1. A resume from everyone here online. It is highly unlikely that this
position will appeal to but a select few. Please do not make me weed through
tons of mail. Let's just start with a simple Email message that says "Hello,
yes I'm interested". From there I'll ask for resumes, etc.
2. Someone who needs more that 35K annually to start. This is the most we will
consider no matter how brilliant you are. On the other hand, this is a very
rapidly growing multimedia and graphics software publishing company and there
is every possibility that you will make more once on board. Most of the
employees here have valuable stock in the company and that may be made
available to you as well.
We DO want.. the following
1. Someone with lots of Novell Netware 3.11 and 4.0 experience. Our LAN is all
PCs and MACs, so we don't need a serious UNIX person or mainframer. You should
possess hardware skills to build/maintain PCs and MACs.
2. Someone very personable who likes to work with others and track down
problems
3. Someone who is very reliable and trustworthy. We will ask for and check all
references.
4. Someone who lives or wants to live in the Los Angles area, preferably on
the west side of town.. Living a great distance from our location would be
impractical. Besides, who wants to drive the LA freeways everyday?
IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED AT THIS POINT, I WILL NOW GIVE YOU OUR STORY.
We are HSC Software, publishers and developers of world class graphics and
multimedia softwares.
We have been around since 1987. We have grown from 10 people to 40 people in
the past two years and should have upwards of 80 employees by the end of 1994.
We have a nice facility that we have outgrown and are thus taking over the
entire top floor of our current office building located blocks from the beach
in Santa Monica, CA.
A large part of the job described here will entail helping to plan and
implement this move. We will go from our current setup... Netware 3.11 50
users, one server, one repeater, one fax server, 3 print servers, 10 MACs, 30
PCs, thin ethernet....to a 10baseT 100 user system with a full MHS/Email setup
to allow all stations access to Internet, Compuserve, America on Line, etc. as
well as inner-office messaging. Thus, a good candidate will have experience
as a communications manager (Global MHS) as well as solid Netware and
DOS/Windows background.
Yes, we are Californians.....casual attire, relaxed atmosphere, friendly
people, some eccentricities....but we work long and hard. We strive to make
the office comfortable and very productive. Be yourself.
We do not punch the clock here, you will be salaried. You should expect
to work "overtime" sometimes. You must be individually motivated and enjoy
your work. No one will stand over your shoulder. You must be responsible and
creative with your time.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If this sounds like something you may
be interested in, please respond directly to me via Email. I will not be
checking this Forum for messages.
Thank You
Jon Swift
